Crossbred groupAs the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has eclipsed the American Cocker Spaniel in popularity, it’s no real surprise that the Cavapoo has risen to be nearly as popular as the Cockapoo. As with the other Poodle-Spaniel crosses, the Cavapoo is an intelligent, playful and loving companion.
The Cavapoo may vary in size as well as coat texture and color. They are easier to keep neat if kept clipped short. As with other Poodle mixes, the Cavapoo may be more easily tolerated by people with allergies. While larger than many toy breeds, the Cavapoo is still small enough be portable, an excellent companion for any family adventure.

The appeal of the Cavapoo is no surprise, since it’s very similar to one of the oldest recognized and still popular crossbreds, the Cockapoo. The coats of Cavapoos vary in color, pattern and texture. Because they often need regular, professional grooming, it’s a good idea to start Cavapoos as puppies so they can learn to tolerate being bathed, dried and clipped short. Between spa sessions, combing is more important than brushing to get down to the skin and prevent matting. Acclimating puppies to having their feet handled and nails clipped or ground down is key to making future nail trims easier on everyone.
